Our client, a global distribution business, is recruiting for an experienced UK Head of QHSE Compliance. Reporting to the EMEA Regional Director you will have oversight for all related safety processes, controls and systems for the UK & Ireland. Managing a team of 9 dedicated QHSE professionals, duties will include:

  • Providing health & safety expertise to all areas, ensuring that all operational activities comply with current health, safety and environment legislation, ensuring all HSSE policies and procedures are followed and are regularly reviewed.
  • Playing a lead role in developing, influencing and promoting a positive HSSE culture throughout the business.
  • Driving forward both corporate & local safety requirements and best practice methods and develop/deliver awareness & training packages as necessary.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders internally and externally within the business such as customers, Health & Safety Executive (Lead Inspector point of contact), internal & third party auditors, local councils, environmental agency, senior management and board of directors.
  • Managing investigations into incidents/accidents and maintenance of reports and action required.
  • Keeping up to date with appropriate legislation and regulation ensuring correct protocol is being followed.
  • Managing certified systems, including ISO, for the business.
  • Ensuring compliance with COMAH, DSEAR and ATEX, EPR as well as the successful implementation of the company MAPP and process safety management system.
  • Managing the major accident hazard identification and risk assessment processes, including HAZID, HIRA, PHR, HAZOP etc . 
  • Ensuring major accident hazard (MAH) risks are controlled to ALARP
  • Involvement in the preparation and revision of key permitting/licence documentation relevant to process safety such as the COMAH safety report, aspects of the EPR permit and hazardous substances consent issues.

 

You must be an experienced Compliance Practitioner with a successful track-record as a senior QHSE Compliance manager, a science-based degree, NEBOSH Diploma and Chartered Safety Professional CMIOSH.  You should also have strong experience in Health & Safety Advisory/Management positions in the chemical or related industry, including demonstrable experience within an upper tier COMAH establishment.
